New Multilayer Cooling Conveyor for Tortilla Chip Production

June 22, 2026
Industrial food processing equipment manufacturers have launched a specialized multilayer cooling conveying machine, designed specifically to bridge baking and frying procedures in automated tortilla chip production lines, solving long-standing quality and yield pain points in traditional snack processing.
Installed immediately after the baking oven and before the frying machine, the new conveyor targets the core technical problem of semi-finished tortilla chips. Freshly baked chips carry high residual temperature and uneven internal moisture, which easily causes inconsistent oil absorption, color difference, cracking and soft texture during frying. The multilayer cooling system delivers gradual, uniform natural cooling and moisture balancing, stabilizing material status before frying and laying a standardized foundation for subsequent processing.
Different from conventional single-layer conveying equipment, the machine adopts a 5 to 8-layer circulating stainless steel mesh belt structure. It greatly extends the cooling stroke within a limited workshop space, avoiding product damage caused by sudden temperature drops. All material-contact components adopt food-grade 304 stainless steel, meeting global food hygiene standards and supporting long-term continuous industrial operation.
Equipped with a variable frequency speed regulation system, the equipment supports stepless speed adjustment from 0.5 to 3m/min. Manufacturers can flexibly control cooling time according to production capacity, baking temperature and ambient environment, adapting to diverse production demands of tortilla chips with different thicknesses and specifications. The optimized three-dimensional ventilation design ensures uniform heat dissipation across all layers, eliminating local overheating or insufficient cooling.
Seamless docking with upstream ovens and downstream frying machines realizes fully automatic unmanned conveying, effectively reducing manual intervention and labor costs. In actual industrial application, the equipment significantly lowers product defect rates and material breakage loss, improving finished product yield and production line stability. With a matching capacity of 100–500kg/h, it is widely applicable for small, medium and large-scale automated tortilla chip processing factories.
Industry insiders stated that the post-oven and pre-frying cooling link is a key hidden factor restricting fried tortilla chip quality. The targeted multilayer cooling conveyor fills the refinement gap of automated snack production lines, helping food processing enterprises achieve stable product taste, consistent appearance and higher production efficiency.
